How to Reuse K Cups in Keurig Coffee Brewers

If you own a Keurig K cup coffee brewing machine and would like to use your own coffee grinds or save money by occasionally reusing K cups you have a few options.

First, it is not recommended to actually reuse a normal K cup. The normal K cups are able to produce multiple cups of coffee but the taste will be much more weak with each use and will end up tasting more and more like the plastic container they are packaged in instead of coffee.

There are a few independent manufacturers of K cup coffee lids. These are plastic lids that fit snugly over a used K cup. Basically, you would use a normal K cup coffee in your machine and afterwards you can remove the foil sealed top and wash out all of the spent coffee grinds. The filter inside the K cup is left intact. Then you may fill the K cup with your own coffee grinds and place the special plastic cap over the K cup to use it once again.

Keurig designed their own method for using your own coffee grinds in a Keurig brewing machine. The result of their efforts is the Keurig Reusable Filter. This is basically a K cup constructed out of a hard plastic framing and utilizes a metal mesh to hold two teaspoons of your favorite coffee grinds. The Reusable Filter can simply be washed with water after each use.

The Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Filter is especially beneficial to owners of Keurig machines that cannot find the coffee they love the most in K cup form, or for those wishing to save a little money in between their K Cup purchases.
