A Quick Look at the Keuring Single Cup Coffee Maker

The single cup brewing systems are gaining in popularity every day. So much so, that you may be a bit overwhelmed when you try to select the one that will be the best for you. Take a look at the different types and you should not have any trouble today finding quite a variety on hand in department and specialty stores. They are widely available in Target, Dillards, and Macy's as well as some home supply and grocery stores.

1 Cup Coffee Maker

Look on line for reviews of the different coffee brewing systems and compare on-line prices with those of local stores. Then you need to evaluate the cost of the coffee that you will use. K-Cups, the vacuum packed portions of coffee were designed and patented to work with the Keurig brewers. They can be compared to the paper coffee pods which earn varying reports. Some say the coffee brewed with the pods is stale or weak while others are satisfied. The proof is in the taste and flavor of the cup - for you.

1 Cup Coffee Maker

Compare the ease of operation and the reports of the machines reliability. All Keurig machines have the same brewing system, although the more expensive models may have a few extras, like a larger water reservoir or a digital clock. Here's how the Keurig machine works:

The K-Cup acts like a mini-brewing system in a tiny cup.

Pop a K-Cup into the brew head. Each K-Cup acts as a miniature drip-style filter. Choose the brew volume, which varies according to your machine. Place your cup on the small tray at the base of the brewer. Sensors detect that your cup is in place. Press the brew button. Water is heated and delivered to the brew head. The K-Cup is pierced and a stream of pressurized hot water is forced through the coffee. Coffee is delivered to your cup in less than a minute. Remove K-Cup and toss it in trash. The Keurig is ready to make another cup of coffee.

To me, the most important consideration is the quality of the coffee the machine brews. After all, a good cup of coffee each time is what you really want. The Keurig brewers, no matter which model you choose, win raves for brewing delicious coffee.

Basic Facts About Coffee Makers and When They Were Invented

Everyday millions of people drink coffee. It is a more tradition that takes place every morning and many people can't get through their day without it. Getting coffee at a cafe everyday can be expensive and that is why home coffee makers are essential. You only use to be able to get a cup of Joe at your local diner. Those days have long since passed and their have been many different types of coffee makers that have flooded the market.

1 Cup Coffee Maker

So how did drinking coffee become so popular and who invented the modern day coffee maker. It was first made my a metal smith it Paris by the name of Laurens. Of course what he made was much different compared to, today's machines but it was basically a percolator.

1 Cup Coffee Maker

The first espresso machine was invented between 1820 and 1850 by a man named Louis Bernard Babaut. This was the first coffee maker that could make as many as 1000 cups of coffee in an hour. Espresso is a different process then normal drip coffee because it is where you extract the coffee by packing it and forcing pressurized water through it. It is much more concentrated and is why you only get a 1 ounce espresso shot that packs the same punch as a small cup of coffee.

Once paper filters were made to brew coffee in the 1960's coffee really took of and became a staple in homes across the world. This is because paper filters made it so easy to just pour coffee in them and run hot water through them to get a quick and fresh cup of coffee.

We have constantly seen coffee makers improved over time, as with any technology. Some people like the new machines while others still like brewing coffee in a manual process because they feel it produces better tasting coffee.

Coffee Press the Original Coffee Maker

It's been around since the late 1800's but really coming into it's own in the early 1900's, the coffee press is a hot coffee brewing device that at first glance looks very simplistic but brews a cup of coffee like no other. Ask any coffee enthusiast about a coffee press pot and chances are you're in for a chat that will last longer then just a minute or two. It's the ultimate brewer to create a fabulous smelling, aroma rich, wonderful flavored, coffee.

How Does A Coffee Press Work?

1 Cup Coffee Maker

A coffee press, as mentioned looks like a very simple device, basically like a coffee maker carafe with a rod down the center connected to a round filter. The filter via the rod can be moved from the top to the bottom of the glass carafe, this allows you to separate the coffee grounds from the water.

So how does it actually work? Coffee beans are first ground very coarse, they need to be more coarse then you would use in a drip coffee machine so that when the boiling water is poured over them the water can absorb the flavor, aroma, and acids from the beans. Water is boiled and poured over the grounds with the plunger filter out. The filter is replaced inside the carafe, the rod is pushed downwards into the carafe to separate the grounds form the water, leaving you with a aroma rich pot of coffee.

Pros and Cons of a Coffee Press

Of course any device has it's pros and cons, a coffee press is no different. A die hard coffee fan will surely appreciate the rich flavor textured coffee it produces. Not to mention it doesn't require any paper filters. Of course there is a downside, coffee from a press should be drank almost immediately to really take advantage of the flavor, also there can be some sediment left at the bottom of your cub due to the coarse grounds that are used. Some believe that the sediment that is left can cause your cup to go bitter.

All in all a coffee press is the original way to make a cup of coffee. While things have changed greatly due to technology, it's still a standard for many. Of course an electric machine is faster and easier to use, it doesn't produce the same exquisite taste found from a press. For those that are looking for a time saving option in the morning for their coffee, stick with your auto drip machine, but if you're looking for that all natural wonderfully brewed cup of joe consider a press, even if it's just for the weekends.
